As many of you know we harvest English Pollen throughout the year. We are amazed how the pollen colours change from week to week. We start collecting pollen in the very early spring throughout summer and into autumn. Everyone here at The Hive Honey Shop are fascinated by the variety of pollen our bees collect and just how different they can be from one apiary site to another apiary site.
The bees collect thousands of different pollens from flowers within trees, gardens, parks, meadows covering a vast range of plants and distance. We love to compare pollen samples taken and put them under the microscope to establish what some of them are. Just this week the pollen colour changed drastically to a pebble sandy colour (see photo below) Last week it was bright orange!
